Foxfire Teas is one of our favorite tea stores in Oregon. They are located at 2505 SE 11th Ave in Portland. Their comprehensive selection of tea ranges from black, green, white, oolong and herbal. Their Wuyi Oolong is simply delightful.
One thing that is great about Foxfire, besides their great tea and store, is their monthly newsletter. It is packed with tea releated information. In their April newsletter, they included the couple of new teas they are now carrying:
CTC ASSAM- smooth, strong and malty black tea from the Satrupa Tea Estate in Assam.
KAMA BLACK- lovely large leaf Assam black tea delivers a medium-bodied, smooth and malty infusion; love at first sip
And, they included a great recipe for Hibiscus Cooler. We are excited to try it.
Hibiscus Cooler
+2 cups of Egyptian Hibiscus Flowers
+3/4 cup of sugar or agave
+8 cups of water
In a stainless steel pan, bring 4 cups of the water and hibiscus flowers to a boil. Boil for 5 minutes and remove from heat. Add sugar or agave and stir until dissolved. Transfer to large glass jar and add remaining water. When cool enough, transfer jar to refrigerator and let steep for 2-4 hours. Filter hibiscus flowers. If it is to tart, more sugar (use simple sugar so it will dissolve) or agave can be added for desired sweetness. Get ready to relax. This drink takes me to a sunny beach within seconds. continue reading >>

That sounds like a very sweet tea. If I make it I'm going to have to cut way back on the sugar.
