If you already drink tea daily, this month may seem like every other for you. As the first month of this New Year 2008, it is more than a little reminder to encourage each and every one of us to do something healthy. For those already not acquainted with tea, it is a good month for you to try some.
With the many types of tea out on the market, it is not hard to find one that you might like. White Tea, Green Tea, Black Tea, Pu-erh, Red Tea (Roiboos) or Herbal Tea—there are so many for so many different palates. And the health benefits seem just as numerous including encouraging weight loss to helping with general well-being. Tea with all its wonderful qualities makes a good addition to a healthy lifestyle.
According to a couple recent studies cited in a release from the Tea Association of the USA, tea can be very helpful to the cardiovascular system.
A recent study examined 340 men and women who had suffered heart attacks and found that those who drank a cup or more of black tea daily had a 44 percent reduction in heart attack risk compared to non-tea drinkers. The study was conducted by Dr. Howard Sesso et al. at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston and published in the American Journal of Epidemiology in January.
In a study by Dutch researchers, participants who drank one to two cups of black tea daily had a 46 percent lower risk of severe aortic atherosclerosis, one factor contributing to cardiovascular disease. Those who drank more than four cups of tea a day had a 69 percent lower risk. The study, published in October in the Archives of Internal Medicine, examined the association of tea intake and the severity of aortic atherosclerosis in 3,454 subjects who were free of cardiovascular disease at the time of baseline.
With that, we raise a cup of tea wishing you all Happy and Healthy New Year.

Hi, and thanks for the information about National Hot Tea Month. I did not know there was such a thing. I drink hot tea pretty much ever day, but it's nice to know that tea has its own special month. I like your content, too; I've added your site to my blogroll. Keep up the great work!
All the best to you,
Steve Imparl
